THE QUINTET

Since their formation in early 1996, Hip Mo' Toast has played in restaurants, hotels and concert venues all over Perth. Led by jazz vocalist Libby Hammer, the group has proved to be Perth's most sought-after jazz band, whether as a quintet or the awesome 14-piece big band. Hip Mo' Toast has wowed audiences at jazz clubs and lounges such as the Perth Jazz Society, Greenwich, the Fly By Night Musicians' Club and Jazz Fremantle. Hip Mo' Toast has featured at festivals such as the Fremantle International Jazz Festival, the South Perth Fiesta, Geraldton Seajazz Spectacular, Araluen Botanical Gardens, Swan Festival Club, and the famous York Jazz Festival.

Country venues as far south as Albany and as far north as Karratha have experienced Hip Mo' Toast's special blend of sophistication and "with-it-ness". The group completed their second Eastern States Tour in January 2002. Hip Mo' Toast has supported Grace Knight, Engelbert Humperdinck, Frank Bennett and Dionne Warwick.

Hip Mo Toast won the 2000, 2001 and 2002 WAMIA (Western Australian Music Industry Association) award for Best Original Jazz Act and the 2000 Perth Jazz Society Award in recognition of artistic excellence in performance and outstanding contribution by a group in the area of innovation and jazz advocacy.
